Post-Holiday Meowin's
Meowlo, peeps!
Fur-st, I hope everyone had a good 4th holiday. My nutty 'rents actually went to a BASEBALL game last night - yes, OUTSIDE! IN THE HEAT! MomKatt said the flags at the park weren't even stirring. They left right after the game, not even staying for the fireworks. It was just awful, she said. And for HER to say that, it must've been pretty bad! But they had fun anyway, and my Aunt MaryLee came over & I met her for the first time! I was a little shy - I let her pet me for a little bit, then I hid behind the sofa in the living room. MOL (I'm not playing hard to get, I AM hard to get! MOL) She thought I was very pretty - she met 'Ticia and Peppers, too. (She spent the day with the 'rents. I think beer was involved later on in the afternoon. MOL)
AND ... as of Tuesday evening, OUR AC IS WORKING! Can you believe - that one part, the "motor blower", cost nearly $1,300!! Not only was the part covered under a 5-year warranty, so was the LABOR! So Mom&DadKatt had to pay a big, fat NOTHING. (I mean, monetarily speaking, that sum represents a BOATLOAD of gooshy fud, right? Better in their pockets - and our tummies - than in Sears' coffers, eh?) Anyway, we are all VERY happy to hear the AC turn off & turn on now. And the house feels GREAT. The two techs that were working on our call were very nice, and very hard-working. One is even about to become a father! (Like any day now.)
MomKatt's dad used to be a maintenance man, and she understands how hard jobs like that are: people expect things fixed "yesterday" or "immediately" and they aren't patient, even if the tech or maintenance person is doing all he/she can to fix the problem. Some problems can't be solved right away and, if someone ELSE drops the ball (not the tech), the poor tech, being in the front lines, gets the blame from the customer! So I think those guys were happy that Mom&DadKatt were so understanding about the second part somehow NOT coming with the first part. The tech had done *his* job & ordered both parts - it was the Parts Dept. that goofed. Of course, if CATS had been fixing this problem, that "mishap" wouldn't have happened - and Business Cat would've given the Parts Person the old "heave-ho", don't you agree?
Anyway, MomKatt says she's giving them both 5's (highest rating) when Sears calls to ask how good a job they did. She feels people like that, who do those jobs & are good at them, don't get enough praise & recognition. Especially in conditions such as these (weather-wise).
So. All's well that ends well, as the famous English poet & dramatist Shakescat once wrote. Wise fellow, that one.
Not much else happenin' ... actually, more good news. I'm responding very well and steadily to MomKatt's extra attentions to get me back to "myself". I even jumped up on the dining room table with her today to "share" her breakfast with her! (I've not done this since I started getting that fever a couple of weeks ago.) She's coaxed me out of Pink Bed and/or off the living room sofa, gotten me to start playing with Morticia's teaser and, with Boudicca in the basement 24/7 now, I'm starting to realize that I'm safe upstairs, that I can share the territory with Morticia, Peppers, Livia, Sharif & Sasha without incident, and begin to carve my place in the family FIRMLY and CONFIDENTLY!
She told DadKatt she knew it would take a little time, that whatever happened to me, whether or not it involved Boudicca (and she still thinks that it did) was, from my perspective, VERY upsetting and that the "trauma" was going to take a little while to overcome. But she heaps praise on me, pets on me, loves on me, encourages me to get active and I'm responding! So, once this started last Sat. morning, MomKatt says she's feeling better & better about me every day. Plus - in playing with me - Peppers comes & wants to be played with, too, so she's beginning to work with us both and his "play" will also help him, hopefully, shed some of that pudgy belly he's got!
So that's what's happenin' at my end of the litterbox. We want to go through ya'll's blogs and read what ya'll have been up to soon. MomKatt says there doesn't seem to be enough time for EVERYTHING she wants to do these days ...
And BTW, I think I have some new followers? WELCOME! I'm glad you're reading my blog & I appreciate your interest in my life and antics.
I hope everyone stays COOL! And that all of my readers near those CO fires stay safe. That's scary!

DeleteI sure am glad your air conditioner is fixed, the hots are coming back!
ReplyDeleteI KNOW! And we all wish they'd GO AWAY, not come back!
DeleteHooray for AC! I hope your Mom and DadKatt gave them a big ol' tip! Not even my peeps will go to baseball games in this heat! BTW, I'm having an auction at my place so if there's anything that interests you, wait for it.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a special page set up for the auction, CK?
Deleteso happy for the A/C and that things are returning to normal!
ReplyDeleteYay fur AC! It is too hot fur us furbabies in this heat (102 here). So great the work was covered. That does mean more foods, treats, and toys fur you and that's exactly how it should be! MOL!
ReplyDeleteHooray for the a/c. I can't think of anything worse than freezing in the winter. We have done both here in my house. But mom paid a lot of green papers for a new system a month ago.

Paws up for the AC humans! That's great for them that your humans understood the hold up, and I know they did a great job for you guys. And paws up for you getting back to your old self! Sounds like things are good at your house!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the AC fixed. Frankly we thinks if CATS had built it, it wouldn't have broke in the first place. We are very sure cats would do a much better job at manufacturing things. Especially things they keep US comfortable.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are doing better, purrs................
So glad your cool air is back. This heat (and ours isn't half as bad as yours) is really getting to us cats, I think. My auntie Primrose had 'tummy problems' yesterday but I hear her calling to peep #2 to go down and pet her on the downstairs kitty condo right now so.. I'm thinkin'.. she's feeling better now. purrs
ReplyDeleteHi Selina, we're glad you are feeling more comfortable...and we are cheering that your a/c has been fixed!! YAY for coolness!!
ReplyDeleteWe are SO glad to hear your AC is back on, Selina! The hots are just no fun.
ReplyDeleteSelina purrhaps you could ask your MomKhat to send us some of your hots and in return we'll send you buckets of cold and plentiful rain!
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Selina, you can pick a necklace up to 24 inches. Would that fit your Mom? I'm not the necklace/collar type either.
ReplyDeleteDunno ... I'll choke ... um measure ... her. *MOL*
DeleteMomKatt, J/K! REALLY!
