What's Going On Here

Hi all.  Sorry I've been AWOL this week.  

 It's been a sad one at our house, and I'll be brief and probably not back on 'til next week.  My DadKatt's father died last Sun.  They think it was either a massive stroke or an aneurism but he was found that morning, unconscious, on the floor in his room in the nursing home where he was.  They took him to the hospital and they told DadKatt's mom that, even if they could have done something for him, he would have been a vegetable for the rest of his life.  He died a few hours later.

 The funeral is Friday - there are two actually - a chapel service in Rocky Mt., NC, then a graveside service after that in Elizabeth City, NC.  It's going to be a very long day, especially for my DadKatt, and they've been spending the week getting him a suit, packing, getting things together, tying up things at their work places ... 

 My Uncle Joel (MomKatt's "brother she never had" and best friend) is going to be house & cat sitting for us for a couple of days ... so I'll miss you all, but wanted you to know I was OK in case anyone was worrying.  ;-)

 Thanks guys ... gentle purrs to everyone.  I have been hoping that all my blogging furriends affected by this stupid hurricane have been safe & sound.

 We love you all!

    Selina, I am so sorry about your DadKatt's father. No wonder you haven't been around. I am sure it has been both a sad and busy time for your family. Take care and we will all see you when you return.

    Thank you EVERYONE, for your kind posts. MomKatt was keeping up for me on her iPhone while they were gone last week & we were being cat-sat. No one gave us ANY passwords, otherwise I'd have been on the 'Net just typing away.

Dearest Furrends: My scribe is typing this entry with a truly heavy heart. Yesterday, I made my journey to The Rainbow Bridge. My doctor, Dr. Daniel, told me in November 2023 that I had something called a "mass" that she could feel when she did something she called "palpating" my underside during my annual well-kitty exam. It didn't hurt - it just felt like she was squeezing me a little. She told Mom&DadKatt, who were there with me (of course) and suggested several options. They decided to start giving me a medicine called prednisone (I called it YUCK ). Dr. D said it would really boost my appetite. Boy, did it! See, MomKatt noticed I'd lost a fair amount of weight in a couple of months prior and she knew something was wrong. Bag Day!

Meowlo, Peeps! Today is Bag Day and Keaton is demonstrating some of the many different things he can do with an ordinary paper sack from the grocery store. He claims it's environmentally responsible, as he's upcycling a natural resource. Do you buy that? Whatever ...  Anyway, here he is.  As you might notice, he enjoys a variety of bags from different places (i.e. he has no taste and will take ANYTHING that comes along.)  This one is from Lowe's Foods grocery store.    This one is from Jersey Mike's subs. We all loved that one because it smelled soooooo good but he wormed his under it and none of us could get in.       We never got into it and in the end, it's cool because MomKatt got a hilarious photo out of it! (We have NO clue what he's doing in there.  Doesn't he have a great butt, though??)   Uh oh ... bag change! He's got the one MomKatt stole from Ed McKay's used bookstore!    At least he can't tear that one up ... ...

Report From Sick Bay

Howdy peeps, First off, THANK YOU so much for everyone's concern, thoughts, messages.  It means so much to me & MomKatt (and DadKatt).  A short update. As you read in the previous entry, Dr. Lofgren said I had a "fever of unknown origin" (and that I also weigh a nice, solid 11 lbs.).  He said, in a cat as young as I, these usually are caused by just something I've picked up.  He noted that I hadn't lost any weight, and that my gums were nice & pink, so those were good signs.   He gave me antibiotics in a shot and Sub-Q fluids yesterday and, when MomKatt picked me up, my temp was down from 104.2 to 103.  (He told her normal was 100-102.)  I ate my gooshy food once I got home and spent all night on MomKatt's lap on the sofa - I WENT to the sofa MYSELF this time, she didn't have to carry me into the living room.  *I* knew where I wanted to snuggle!
