Straw Hat Wednesday!
Oh Bast, I hope this doesn't look goofy on me ... what do ya'll think?
I think it's a little small, don't you?
I hope my head hasn't gotten too big ...
Anyway, it's National Straw Hat Day today. Seems hoomans feel a need to have a holiday or special day for everything, don't they? And the weirder, the better, it seems.
This observation got MomKatt & I to exploring. Did you know there was a:
Mother Goose Day (always on May 1, apparently)
Take It In the Ear Day (Dec 8 - we're not making this stuff up!)
National Ding-A-Ling Day (Dec 12 - obviously there are a LOT of people that qualify to celebrate THIS particular weird holiday)
Play God Day (Jan 9 - is this for doctors? MOL)
National Trail Mix Day (Aug 31)
Rat Catchers' Day (July 22 - after all, rat catchers need love, too)
Yesterday, May 14, was Chicken Dance Day. (Gee, sorry we missed THAT one! Maybe the San Diego Chicken celebrated in some Fred Astaire-type way.)
And Feb 23 is National Sword Swallower's Day!
For us cat-lovers, Aug 15 is Lion Day, Feb 20 is Love Your Pet Day (shouldn't that be EVERY day?), Dec 15 is Cat Herder's Day, Oct 29 is National Cat Day, June 4 is Hug Your Cat Day, and Jan 22 is the one *I* purr-sonally like: it is "Answer Your Cat's Questions Day"!
Who knew?!
But the two that are, of course, closest to my heart are National Black Cat Day (in the UK), Oct. 25, and Black Cat Appreciation Day, Aug 17.
My goodness, what will those whacky two-leggers think of next? There truly DOES seem to be a day/holiday to celebrate just about ANYthing!
And of course, who needs some "special" day to celebrate us kitties of any origin, color or breed? We're special 365 days a year!
Can't wait to see everypurr's hats today! I think mine needs re-blocking ...
Purrz!
Selina
