Image
Psst!  Rachel - first picture - and Ray Charles - second picture - are still available and dreaming of their forever home !  They ask me each night w hether someone has inquired about them, and each night I have to sadly answer, "No." Please please PLEASE don't forget th ese two sweeties.  They are growing like weeds, Rachel is SUPER social and so much fun, and Ray is slow ly, slowly coming out o f his shell.  He LOVES t o play with the Kong teaser and hang out in his parac hute cube; he takes trea ts fro m m y hand and, last night, he actually MADE A NOISE!  It wasn't a full meow but it was the first "chirp" I have heard from him since he's been with me. So HOORAY for RAY! They've been so fortunate thus far in their short lives - is there someone out there that can complete their happiness and pledge to keep and love them forever and ever?  I j ust KNOW there is someon e out there for these two sweethearts. Rachel & Ray Charles Update

Image
Hi Gentle Readers, MomKatt here, hijacking the blog for just a quick update about my fosters, Rachel & Ray Charles . To date, they are just fine, but NO inquiries on them have been received.  Not, apparently, even an interested question.  Frankly, I'm really starting to worry.  I don't want to see them split up, yet Gary & I CANNOT take them ourselves.   I wish we could.  I frankly admit that I've gotten attached to the little mites ... While I suppose that Ray would do alright at Blind Cat Rescue, I feel that is hardly fair to Rachel (who sees quite well) and not fair to Ray if they are split up, with him going there and her going into a forever home.  She's SO social & outgoing but I just CANNOT get him out of his shell. It's just pitiful.  He always looks so SAD; yet, he'll play with the Kong teaser I got for them (we had good play sessions yesterday), they play together pouncing on each others' heads, etc. (normal kitten "wr

Feline Breast Cancer: One Friend's Story

Image
Meowlo peeps! Remember a little while back I said I was going to have a very special interview on my blog?  Well, today's the day! Everyone, please meet my good furriend Sugar Bear! Isn't she lovely? Sugar lives in San Francisco, CA, and her meowmy is a big Giants fan whom my MomKatt has known for a long time from Catster. Last January, Sugar was diagnosed with feline breast cancer.  Since she's had this experience, Sugar's meowmy has said she wished she had a nickle for every time someone, upon hearing that Sugar had experienced breast cancer, said, "Cats can get breast cancer ?"  The answer is:  of course they can!  And so can horses, cows, rabbits - even sea lions! So Sugar and I, together with our meowmies, thought it would be really cool to have Sugar Bear tell her story to all my readers, in hopes of spreading the word about this horrible disease, and tell you all about the website Sugar's meowmy developed in response to her experience,

You Can't Go Home Again

Image
Mornin' peeps! In a surprise move this morning (at least, it was a surprise to MomKatt; *I* had been thinking about doing this for some time now), I graced Pink Bed with my furry presence ( and butt) .  I don't know who was more sh ocked :  PB or MomKatt.   Bu t, naturally, my doing this cause d her to make a beeline for the iPhone & snap a pic.  She wante d to get me looking UP at the camer a, and I was just a split second before I lowered my gaze - as you see here - so she settled f or a pic of me looki ng solumn and thoughtful and concentrated.  (I seldom look solemn and I hardly EVER look still.  MOL!) Of course I was concentrated!  I was tapping into PB, trying to find out how he felt about me finally deigning to curl up in him.  We've not been close recently.  No, it's nothing PB's done , per se.  Or not done. I dunno ... I guess I've just been "off" him these last few months.  You k now?  Like whe n a cat toy no longer fas

RACHEL & RAY CHARLES: STILL LOOKING!

Image
Meowlo, peeps! Today, we are bring ing you NEW pics of Rachel & Ray Charles, the foster kitties from Greenville, SC, that have been living in MomKatt's office for over three weeks (!!) now.  I f you'll recall, both t hese kitties were blogged about by my good friend, B rian, in this pos t: Black , Blind and in a Bind The tit le there IS a link that will take you straight through to the original blog post.  I don't k now if you're able to see that o r not. B oth kittens had Entropion , an ab normal genetic eye condition that causes a cat's eyelid , or portion of the ey elid, to be inverted or folded inward against the eyeball, resulting in i rritation and scratches to the cornea -- the front surface of the eye -- which can lead to corneal ulceration, or corneal perforation. They both had surgery for this condition and, while Rachel can see (it seems to MomKatt) most anything quite easily, Ray Charles is, she would estimate, 80% or so blind.  However,

Where Is It?!?!

Image
Once upon a time (a long time ago into yesterday), two black cats were meowing to each other in Reidsville.   Selina, a bit frantic, said: "OK MomKatt ... this isn't funny ... WHERE is the gooshy fud?  It's ALWAYS kept here, RIGHT HERE.  And as you see now, there's nothing.  NOTHING here.  NOTHI NG!" " Morticia, HOW can you sit there so calmly?  Can't you see?  TH ERE IS NO GOO SHY FOOD IN THE CABINET!  WE'RE GOING TO STARVE!  What's wrong with you, woman?  Why aren't you meowing your head off?!" T o which the calmer of the two felines replied : "Oh Selina, relax!  You're always going off the deep end.  I'm not worried, MomKatt'll come through with the goods.  She always does - you'll see.  Just be patient  See?  Like me. "   Selina began turning around and around in the open cabinet. " OMC ... there is NO gooshy fud!  What 'll we DO?  It's GO T to be somewhere.  T his is some
