Queen of All I Survey!

Image
Good morning, peeps! As you can see, I was busy yesterday, surveying my territory from the top of our refrigerator.  You can also see the many, many magnets my pawrents put on the 'fridge.  MomKatt likes to say that you can tell a lot about a person from looking at what's on their fridge doors and by the spines of the books in their house.  (I would add that I judge people by whether or not their home shelters a black kitty, but I assume you will all already know that.)  Anyway, you think the freezer door is loaded:  you should see the right side of the fridge!   And, yes, that's Morticia there in the DEVO hat.  That was in honor of the Devo concert the pawrents attended in Richmond, VA, a couple of years ago - before my time.  Also, on the left side, towards the top, is a photo of two men with their chins thoughtfully resting on their hands.  That is my DadKatt (on the left) & Stan Ridgway, lead singer of Wall of Voodoo and now, for many years, a solo artist.  He

Well, peeps, yesterday I just *had* to finally put my paw down!  Tell 'em where things stood!  Make my mark clearly and firmly, with no fuss, no drama, and NO room for debate. This is MY bowl! Look closely at the picture - see my head moving from side to side, as in, "No, you will NOT put my food in any other bowl.  This is NOT Sasha's bowl, it's MY bowl!" Of course, MomKatt understood right away.  Sasha got her gooshy fud in the pink bowl, as befits her. But we ALL know that red & black, in combination, are "power colors".  (At least, MomKatt says she read that somewhere.  And that's cool.  I can totally see that.  Besides, the pink bowl isn't AS pink as, say, Pink Bed, or MomKatt's hot pink sandals - see previous post concerning shoes.  So I can relinquish the pink bowl in favor of the red one with a clear conscience.) Remember, peeps:  ALWAYS tell 'em where you stand!  And make sure they know what's yours ... is YOU

Shoe Day

Image
Today is Shoe Day.  At least, it is on my blog.  Today is the day I reveal my love of MomKatt's shoes. I really like sandals the best, as you can see here.  Plus, my two favorite pairs of her sandals ALSO coordinate with both me and Pink Bed.  So you may see a pattern here ... I'm really, really into symmetry.  And coordinating colors.  ( Plus they smell like MomKatt - and leather.  I really like leather.)  AND ... pink & black (HOT pink and black) is, really, THE best color combination ... especially for a fashion-conscious, svelte and "got it goin' on" black beauty such as myself. Happy Monday everyone! PURRS!  Selina PS - Unfortunately, she took these pink ones to wear to work today!  Drat!  I will just have to make do with the black ones ...   As you can see, though, I REALLY tried to hold onto them!

Tarot Thursday, anyone?

Image
Today, MomKatt wanted me to ask if anyone out there was into tarot cards like she is. She has two decks that she uses regularly (well, not SO regularly the past few years, but lately she's been getting back into it):  The Golden Tarot (given her love of things medieval, this deck is particularly cherished): (She uses the High Priestess card to represent herself with this deck.) and Tarot of the Cat People (which is REALLY awesome with gorgeous fantasy cat artwork). In particular, in the Cat People deck (above), she loves the "Death" card - but, of course, they are all beautiful. She uses tarot cards primarily when she's got something on her mind, something she's pondering.  She says she finds that they quite often lead her to other ways of thinking about something that she had not considered before or had thought previously insignificant, especially if something (a theme, a word or phrase) keeps cropping up throughout a particular card spread. Teaser Tuesday

Image
Part of MomKatt's plan to draw me out of the shell I'd kinda crawled into because of Boudicca's shenanigans was to renew my love of my teaser.  Well, this was the PURRFECT strategy - 'cause I LOVE my teaser, as you will see!  We have started having play sessions every morning while MomKatt has breakfast, and sometimes for a few minutes after, and every evening after we've all eaten our gooshy fud. NOW ... before you meow anything, don't be dissin' my stubby teaser (whose name, it won't surprise you, is Stubby Teaser).  (Actually, I stole him from Morticia, so blame her for his shabby appearance.  She's rough on teasers.)  I know he's stubby and chewed on and ... well, he's been around the block SEVERAL times.  As Harrison Ford said in "Raiders", "It ain't the years, honey, it's the mileage!" But I love my teaser just as he is, even if MomKatt says a trip to Petco's going to soon be in order 'cause

They call me ...

LONGPAW ... *cues Charles Bronson playing a harmonica* My origin is a mystery, as is my past. But my future is clear.  No hooman ankle is safe from my reach, no running feline immune from being tripped while in mid-flight from the litterbox ... or to the food bowl. Young or old, rich or poor, big or small, long-haired or short-haired:  sooner or later, my paw will find you. And you will never, EVER be the same again. You can run, but you can't hide from ... LONGPAW! *whispers aside*  Was that OK?  Was I dramatic enough?  Do you think Animal Planet will consider my proposal for a feline cop show based on this premise? Maybe if I include a video of me tripping Livia ... or Peppers ...  PURRS! Selina (trying out her new nickname)

Friday the 13th

Image
HELLO PEEPS! Today is Friday the 13th, a particularly special day for us black kitties.  I think that anyone fortunate enough to be owned by at least one Black Beauty (see?  the luck starts right here), let alone five of us (as my Mom&DadKatt are - and that counts my late sisfur, Torrie, who was also an adoption), is obligated to sing our praises on at least two days out of the year:  Halloween and any Friday the 13th that pops up (so you may actually have MORE than two days but ... you get my drift). It's high time all the silliness about us Black Beauties being unlucky stops.  Also, the witch association thing.  I mean - c'mon, peeps, it's the 21st century!  I cannot believe some people ACTUALLY still subscribe to all this nonsense which emerged from a period when most hoomans were poor, ignorant and pretty frightened of anything that smacked of "different".  (And out of respect for my readers' differing beliefs, I won't EVEN get into the mess t

Stuff

Image
Meowlo, peeps! Today's entry is all about "stuff" - or rather, "stuff" about me.  Or just oddball things - this 'n that, deese 'n doze ... (mostly oddball, but I'm in there somewhere.) Fur instance ... voila, my Catster page: http://www.catster.com/cats/1184609 Or how 'bout something you don't wanna see at 3 AM? (Now, I don't know, purr-sonally, why you would NOT want to see all those kitties at 3 AM.  Maybe you wouldn't want to see them all standing on your chest at 3 AM, demanding to be fed while you're trying to sleep.  MOL)  But I thought it was amusing. Here's some more: One of MomKatt's favorite LOLCats: The Black Death:   MomKatt's favorite comic strip involving a boy & his stuffed tiger: MomKatt's favorite comic strip involving cats called "Two Lumps"):  MY favorite LOLCat:  Another favorite "Two Lumps" strip: Bored yet?  No?  Good.  Her
