One Eye on the Future

Hi all.  Sorry I've been AWOL this week.   It's been a sad one at our house, and I'll be brief and probably not back on 'til next week.  My DadKatt's father died last Sun.  They think it was either a massive stroke or an aneurism but he was found that morning, unconscious, on the floor in his room in the nursing home where he was.  They took him to the hospital and they told DadKatt's mom that, even if they could have done something for him, he would have been a vegetable for the rest of his life.  He died a few hours later. The funeral is Friday - there are two actually - a chapel service in Rocky Mt., NC, then a graveside service after that in Elizabeth City, NC.  It's going to be a very long day, especially for my DadKatt, and they've been spending the week getting him a suit, packing, getting things together, tying up things at their work places ...  My Uncle Joel (MomKatt's "brother she never had" and best friend) is going to b...

No matter who you are voting for, I'd just like to say that I wish cats could vote.  But, since we can't, it is even more important for your 2-leggers to get outta their houses & go vote.  Vote early!  Vote on the day!  Doesn't matter - just do it.  It's important - REALLY important. Then again, it's ALWAYS important 'cause this is a demoCATcy democracy and every hooman should participate.  The way I see it, with my one clear, bright, Absinthe-green eye, if you don't vote, you don't have a right to gripe about how things turn out after.  And if you DO vote, and it's a race as close as this presidential contest seems to be, yours just MIGHT be the deciding vote.  Who knows?  Maybe not, you say - but your vote sure WON'T be counted as ANYTHING if you don't go and register it. So ... go do your civic duty during the next couple of weeks, be nice, play nice, don't be one of the (seemingly)...

Weeellll MomKatt's a little pre-occupied these days with the World Series and her DEEEtroit Tigers winning the AL pennant and going to "The Show" against the Giants (she says "Paws will be SWIPIN' ... ") ... so we WERE going to use yesterday, ManKatt Monday, as a little tribute to our (now) one & only house ManKatt panther, Peppers ...  So take it away, Fat Boy ... ahem ... brofur Peppers ... hee hee Seriously .... he's a rather fine-looking specimen, isn't he?  Sorry girls, he does have a girlfriend ... but he's a real flirt ... Morning Peeps! I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Mom&DadKatt are REALLY happy 'cause their Detroit Tigers are 2-0 in the AL championship series right now & headed to their home turf for Game 3 on Tues. night with MomKatt's favorite picther, Justin Verlander, scheduled to pitch! Me?  Well, I don't care so much about baseball but it DOES garner me LOTS of lap time!  Back to back games Sat. AND Sun. meant *I* got lots of lovins & lap time with MomKatt.  (The only down side being when DadKatt gets "excited" about something that happens during the game.  He yells and wakes me up!) Meowlo, Peeps! MomKatt got a new 'pooter at work!  So she was going through the photos on her hard drive there & found some early pics of me she took when I first arrived. OK ... I don't mean to yowl on about my recent ... ahem ... "developments" in the fur department ... but I *was* quite shocked at MomKatt's discovery.  I mean, you walk by mirrors every day without noticing a thing has changed, then suddenly ... BAM!  You notice something or someone says, "Hey, when did you get THAT?" And you realize that things are not quite so cool anymore. So my MomKatt's quite the film buff, particularly when it comes to classic horror movies, and she's been trying to make me feel better by saying that purr-haps with my new ... what shall we call them ... accents?  flecks?  (humph ... don't fancy that last one.  Makes me sound like I'm covered in dust or wood shavings or something) ... I am MOST distressed.  WHERE in the name of Morris did they come from?  Stress?  I can't blame Boudicca, she's out of my world now & in the basement where she belongs. *Comes in, starts coffee* Meowlo, Peeps!  Guess ya'll thought we'd fallen through the litterbox!  Well, it *has* been a pretty trying time around my place lately.  MomKatt hasn't really felt like typing for me, and I haven't pushed her.  But today I told her that maybe it would help her to type for me.  I didn't even complain when she pointed the iPhone flashy thing & took some up-to-date snaps of me (see below) doing my mawnin' thang. Been almost a month since my brofur, Sharif, made it to The Bridge.  He's doing well up there, making friends & hanging with our other sibs that have blazed the trail.  MomKatt feels better about him - she knows she did what she had to do and, while that doesn't make it hurt any less, she's grateful that he's out of his discomfort. The rest of us are fine.  I'm out of my Forta-Flora & we're anxiously awaiting shipment today (!!).  I've discovered that stuff's so tasty that I don't...
