We've Come to the End ...

Image
Oh hai! I've shoved The Twins out of the way today 'cause it's MY blog so it's only fitting that *I* should write dictate the final post. I found a line from that great playwrite, Shakescat, and it goes something like this: "The web of our life is a mingled yarn, good and ill together." It's from his masterpiece, "All's Gooshie That Ends Gooshie" and I think it has something to say to us on this New Year's Eve.  All our blogs are mingled yarns, full of joy and worry and laughter and sadness and support and personal strength.   When DadKatt was in his accident in Sept., you all were such a bastion of support and we knew you cared about how he was, though you've never met him.  You've suffered with me through "The Twins'" adventures ( wait, what?  MomKatt, you gotta be kidding!?  They LIKE hearing about them?  *sigh* OK whatever ..  yeah I guess they DO provide some comic relief.  No, it doesn't matt

The Twins ... Waiting, Hoping ....

Image
WHERE IS SANTA PAWS???  WHAT GIVES???  Why is MomKatt hiding things from us?  She's gotten this mysterious package she won't let us see or paw!  No fair! AND WHERE IS THAT FAT GUY?????!!!!!  We've been waiting here for ages and we're driving the heat bill up 'cause we want the window open so we can spot him right away when he comes, so MomKatt opens it for us ... all we see are stoopid squirrels !  They don't look like Santa Paws! "Rachel, stop griping and get to the point!" "OK ok!!  Don't have kittens, MomKatt!" We (Rachel, Ray, Selina, Morticia, Oliver, Peppers, Boudicca & Sasha ... oh, and the Pink Monkeys Mom&DadKatt) wish all of our furriends a wonderpurr Xmas!  We love all of you and our holidays are brighter sharing them with you all!  If you are traveling, be safe so we see you afterward! Man we can't wait 'til tonight for another reason:  MomKatt got filet mignons for her & DadKatt's Xmas Eve d

Monday Morticia - Waiting, Wondering ....

Image
Meowlo!  Morticia here.  I hope everykatt's ready for the holidays!  I think we are ... now it's just down to the waiting.  The anxiety.  The hopes.  The dreams. What will be in our stockings this year?  MomKatt is sneaking around with AmazonSmile.Com packages that have been coming in.  She won't let us sniff them, either. Plus the new cat toys in the guises of torn wrapping paper, wadded-up bows and loopy, magnetic curling ribbons!  That's the part *I* can't wait for! I'd better leave extra 'nip for Santa Paws! Holiday Nom Check

Image
Oh hai! It's me, the One-Eyed Thang, checking up on the pawrents' holiday/Xmas goodies!  I'm making my list and checkin' it twice for appropriate noms and amounts thereof. Hummm.  Salad dressing.  OK that's MomKatt's part of the 'fridge.   I checked the beer part, so DadKatt's covered (he loves porters). But WHERE IS THE CHICKEN ? Humm???  For us KITTEHS?!  I have yet seen NO evidence of fowl ANYWHERE in this refrigerator!  What gives?   Woman, get thee to the grocery store ASAP! Really!  If I had keys to her MINI (and thumbs ... and a driver's license), I'd get the bird MYSELF! There'd BETTER be some chicken for us on Xmas Day ... or Santa's gonna get an earful! Purrz! Selina Uh on ... Better shut up.  MomKatt said something about some chicken in my stocking????  Mustn't let Santa here me kvetching!

Tidy Tuesday

Image
(I dunno what MomKatt's deal is about the titles in my blog being all alliterations but ... whatever ...) KITTEHS! We all know that nothing's better on a gray, rainy day (like the one we are having here) than passing the time giving yourself a nice, long baf.  (Well, napping of course but ... AFTER you wake up you can have the baf.  Or BEFORE you nap, so that you go to sleep feeling all clean and nice.) Either way, it's nice being clean.  I took a long, leisurely baf this morning after hopping up on MomKatt's chair with her to inspect and supervise the eating of her breakfast.  (No I didn't get any - I just sit next to her and distract her from eating and reading her book to get lots of pettins.) I got a little more than I bargained for this morning, though. MOL!  It wasn't as bad as I seem to be making it out to be here.  (Credit to DadKatt who took the photo.) But afterward, the seat was SOOOOO warm from where MomKatt was sitting that I simply

Sunday Scare

Image
Well, little Miss Rachel gave me a bit of a scare yesterday.  I got up at 6:30 AM and started feeding everyone like I normally do and after that, I scooped the boxes.  I saw Rachel enter the box in the dining room and squat ... and squat ... and squat. I went over to her and saw she was trying to pee but wasn't.  "OK," I thought.  "I need to monitor this." By 8 AM she'd gotten into the same box three more times, all without success, except for a couple of dime-sized droplets.  Time to visit the emergency vet. So I eat, shower and dress and get the carrier.  Thank goodness she doesn't object to being put in the carrier (she just sings opera in the car in protest).  Thank goodness we have the Reidsville Veterinary Hospital at home that's open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.  I've only had one other encounter with them (Selina) but they couldn't have been more helpful and kind (both of the incidents were on Sundays - why this happens on

Thirsty Thursday with Peppers and Sasha

Image
KITTEHS! Around our house, we all LOVE to drink water!  But no one loves it more than Peppers and Sasha, who both particularly enjoy drinking from the pawrents' bathroom sinks. And, as usual every morning, here they each are this morning, lapping and slurping to their hearts' content. We love it at Chez Carter when we see happy drinking cats!   PEPPERS SASHA Purrz everyfur! Shhh! Meow-less Wednesday

Tummy Tuesday

Image
With my very special guest, my brofur, Peppers! He loves showing off his tummy. BLARGH!       You can understand WHY he loves showing off his tummy.  It *is* pretty impressive.  MomKatt loves to rub it, then Peppers will curl around her hand like one of those bugs that curl up when you touch them as a defensive measure?  Then he'll start bunny-kicking her hand/arm ... but very gently. His deep rumbly purrs negate his feeble protests at being so manhandled ... MOL I, OTOH, rarely show my tummy.  I prefer bread loaf position on MomKatt's lap!   One of my most beautiful photos. OK this is Pink Bed and NOT MomKatt's lap but ... you get the picture. Purrz! Selina

Morticia Monday

Image
Meowlo all! Jeez .. our last entry was Oct. 28.  It's been too long.  I've missed my fans! Well today is "Morticia Monday" and Morticia haz a sad. Why?  Well the same reason we ALL haz a sad on Mondays.  MomKatt had to go to WORK!  Honestly, why didn't she marry that nice, rich doctor who was filthy rich so she could stay home with US?  MOL! (Because she married DadKatt ... but why didn't HE come with more moolah?  MOL!) Speaking of DadKatt, he's coming along fine from the accident.  Still can't do 100% with his left arm - MomKatt still has to scrub his back in the shower because he can't reach over his shoulder.  He says now he knows why we kits love back rubs!  But the orthopedist said he was healing nicely when he visited him and got X-rayed a couple of weeks ago.  It's just going to take time. Otherwise, we're all fine.  My sisfurs, Boudicca and Sasha, went to the (ahem) V E T on Sat., but they are all healthy as far as
